The Food for Thought Initiative (Food4TI) is a volunteer organization that aims to improve food access and alleviate hunger among Madison area school students and their families.
Food4TI provides school-based nutritional support because we know that hunger impairs learning, behavior, and ability to attend and focus. We believe students should be hungry to learn, not hungry.
I would not have eaten anything all weekend. The food pantry allowed me to keep up my strength and spirits. Thank you.
I cannot tell you how grateful we are for the opportunity to have the food come directly to us through our oldest child. I cannot face each day searching and searching for the daily things we need. When he came home with the first bag of groceries it was like Christmas came early and we cried as a family together.
Students who realize there is a snack available to them when they are hungry are calmer, more confident in asking for help, and in return are more respectful and able to focus in school.
Kids appreciate the recognition that they are hungry, especially in the morning or at the end of the day. It helps relationships, behavior and learning.
I notice more students feeling more ready to learn after a snack.
Another child was so happy when he came back from his first weekend with food. He couldn’t wait to share with me that he had eggs for breakfast! I truly think this program is one of the most valuable I’ve ever worked with.
We love the food and that we can count on it every week.
We are very thankful for it. It has helped a lot. I think the program is a great idea on helping people who needs extra help. It is very helpful for families who has no transportation to time to get to a pantry.
